Seriously though. Seeing the battle against identitarian thinking as "just" a part of Marxist class struggle is a mistake. It's a much older war. Seeing that war as a permutation of class struggle, and advancing socialist policies to try to fight it, is in my opinion the only path forward, but it's important to understand that what the 21st century sectarianism is groping towards is a lot more dark and chaotic than previous regimes of capital, it's a very multi-polar environment of competing forms of capital, it's the Hobbesian "all-against-all," it's the return of pre-Western enlightenment politics, of "tribalism."

Schools pushing cultural assimilation is literally the point of the American schooling system since its inception. I'm shocked, shocked that it has come to this, seriously?
But yeah, schools like to pull this "your haircut is bad", or "the way you talk is bad" as a way to railroad kids to failure and deny them education. They literally have quotas to meet to write off so many kids as bad kids, and the way the system breaks down children psychologically requires taking some kid and scapegoating him (and it is almost universally a male being held up as the exemplar of failure).
