How many amps do you use for your IH. Not getting clouds with 10.
How many amps do you pump through your IH? I made one recently with a 12V10A adapter.
I'm not getting anywhere near the clouds I do with a butane lighter tho. The click comes way faster so it feels like it just doesn't heat up properly.
Would it help to 'downgrade' to 6A or so?

10A is plenty for good clouds. It sounds like you may not be inserting the cap far enough into the coil... Like it is heating the tip only. It takes a little fine-tuning/testing of the depth you insert the vapcap into the coil before you find the sweet spot.
Im not exactly sure about the mechanics if you will. If you have less amps wouldnt it take longer to heat up? So the steel is actually hotter when it clicks? thus creating more clouds?
Not necessarily... No matter what amperage your power supply is, the overall temperature of the IH will be achieved by either... The higher the amperage, the faster this will occur. So, simply lowering the power supply may do the trick as some people swear by the lower amperage power supplies. I prefer nothing less than 10A on mine. But, I also measured where the heating spot was in my IH so that I could hit the exact spot on the cap I want to. With every power supply and coil, there will be slightly different "settings" to how far you insert the cap into the coil. I would try to insert the cap further into the coil until you find your sweet spot.
its more or less in the middle now, with about 3mm to spare on either side. If I put it in any further Im just heating up that cooling feature is it not.
If the very tip of it is in the middle, that is not far enough into the coil... The best way you can tell where the heat is being focused is to take a paper clip and bend it straight. Insert that into your coil and fire it. You will see it start to glow red. That is your heat point. Line the paper clip up yo your cap and see where the heat is hitting your cap(based on the heat point you saw). If it is hitting towards the tip of the cap where the bimetal disc is, then you need to go further into the coil. Side to side in the coil doesn't have much effect... You want to go deeper into the coil vertically.
