Just need some advice/opinions

Advice

I’ve been going by a new name (A) for around 6 years now and everyone knows me as such, including friends and family. For awhile now I’ve considered changing it to another name (P) that I really like a lot. The only other problem is that I used to know someone who went by this name (P), and I don’t want everyone to just assume I stole it from them. I don’t even dislike my current name (A), it’s just a big feeling of “what if” that shows up every once in awhile. So,, should I change my name?? Just leave it be?? I don’t know, so I’d really really appreciate any input at all.

Could you possibly use it (P) as a middle name? That way you might not feel weird about changing your first name (A) after all this time but you could still sometimes go by or identify with your middle name. I've known a handful of cis guys who go by both their first or middle name, depending on who they're with (middle name with friends n fam, first with classmates/colleagues).

Ask yourself, which name feels more natural to you?

Honestly, almost everyone will have someone with the same/similar name. If your name has been working and made you happy for 6 years, you don’t have to change it because it’s someone else’s, too.
