Mossberg 590 Shockwave
Painted with VHT Black Pearl engine metallic
This thing is mostly aluminum and steel; weighs 9.5lbs unloaded. When loaded the balance is at the receiver just forward of the loading port.
Recoil is very light with Aguila mini shells and comfortable with Rio #4 buck 21p. I measured an 8” pattern at 10y.
Solid build! By the way, how does Rio buckshot work? I run Winchester Super X 00 9P and sometimes Remington 00 9P as well.
I’ve had no issues running rio target loads in my maverick 88 either. Probably one of the best target loads out there
Someone had recommended it to to me for indoor HD; there’s a good video on it here
Watching that, I might have give it a try. That’s very impressive.
Also, in turn, if you’re looking for a good 00 round, give Winchester and Remington a go. Good patterns on both and both run clean.
Since that thing was a Shockwave and you put a brace on it, does it still exist in the legal loophole around SBSs?
Yeah I think so, they sell braced shockwaves but IANAL
I'm just wondering since I don't know if a folding brace is factored into overall length when determining how long a gun has to be, etc.
Edit: now that I look though I see your brace is fixed, nvm.
Can we get some more specs on the hound ?
He’s a few months old. Male purebred shih tzu. Not as in to larping as his daddy. He really didn’t want to get in to that vest. He’s in the teething faze where everything is a chew toy to him. He’s pretty hyper, likes to climb on my head and drag his whole ball sac across my face. He’s the best tho, I love him a lot.
Please pet the puppy for us
The gun is nice. But that tactical pupper is a badass.
Are the weights just for recoil reduction?
Yep and they aren’t bad to wrap your hand around as the ergo forend is a little small.
How's that GGG light mount? Might buy one myself.
Also, that brace on the back has to be murder on the shoulder with slugs/highbrass
The lockup seems okay, It’s got a little wiggle. I saw some reviews saying they bend under recoil but mine is okay so far. Overall I’m happy with it. It puts that light in a perfect spot for my thumb.
I haven’t put any slugs through it. I have some mini slugs and some Federal LE slugs I’ll try out next time. I went through ~25 of those Rio Shells and my shoulder was fine I didn’t even notice. Those federal slugs are really stout tho even out of my 590A1
Definitely. Even with the full size synthetic stock with rubber recoil pad on my 500 Tactical, Federal slugs and Winchester high brass smack you a bit.
Yeah my 500 kicks like a mule when I run 3" magnum Xs, also with the recoil pad.
I pictured that spike in some sci-fi setting as a pneumatic bayonet
That 1911 grip is sick! Honestly I like the whole thing!
Sick tactical shih tzu!
Bubba n....yes
Repulsive: I want one.

10/10 good boiii
Good gun good pupper 👍
That color coordination looks great!
Thank god you didnt say 'boi'
What in the sweet fuck is that steel spike for, and what the hell is going on with the 1911 grips on a shotgun?
Mall ninja shit
bubba yes
Bubba nooooo!
Glass breaker.
Though why anyone needs a glass breaker on a 12 gauge that can treat windows like paper is anyone's guess.
Stupid, I agree. But I can think of a scenario where thatd be convenient-ish.
Apocalypse happens, you dont wanna ding up your boomstick on a window. You push that shit into it and voila.
As a wise man once said
Tbh I just wanted to make something different. So I went the all metal direction. The spike is just for looks but it’s very sharp. The ICD 1911 grip is aluminum so it seemed like a good fit.
Oh it's different alright
Why a pistol grip and brace on a shotgun with a tang safety?
Not OP, but having previous broken my wrist, a pistol grip is a lot more comfortable to hold than a standard rifle/shotgun stock. It makes the safety harder to reach, but the tradeoff is my fingers don't go numb.
Have you tried a semi-pistol grip stock like a Magpul SGA? Extremely ergonomic, but much easier to hit the tang safety than a pistol grip.
I haven't tried a shotgun with that sort of grip stock, but I've seen them. When I'm in the market to buy another shotgun, I'll definitely give it a closer look.
