Better for going second and OTK'ing. Not the best OTK field but it's still better going second.

If you manage to get this many monsters you might as well end up on power code talker and go for the kill.

Nah, but there isn't much protection.
It's even worse if you keep Powercode.
Besides, Excode buffs cards that it points to, while Transcode buffs cards that co-links with it. Flame Administrator managed both, so it doesn't matter if they're all co-linked or not.
Cyberse Extra Link isn't design to break the game like Knightmares, they're designed to be fair, so yes there "aren't much protection".
