[HELP] A12 device on 12.1.4. What’s the order to upgrade to 12.4?

You’ll have to download the 12.4 ipsw do a backup first then a full restore with the 12.4 ipsw, you can try updating not restoring with the 12.4 ipsw but I got errors trying to do that, google on how to update/restore with custom ipsw according to what you have pc or Mac.

So I should do this in order
Download the IPSW
Backup my iPhone
Restore to factory settings
Upgrade to 12.4 using IPSW
Restore from my backup
Is this correct?

No no, restore from iTunes with the ipsw, on windows you hold Shift then press restore/update iPhone and choose the ipsw you downloaded, you can try updating first maybe you don’t get errors like i did

just download the ipsw for 12.4 and install it through itunes. no need to restore or any of that.

no just downlod the ipsw and use it to update through itunes. do you know how to do that?

I know how to download the ipsw but not how to incorporate that to upgrade my phone

Just update normally to 12.4 using iTunes.
No need to restore backup, just a simples update to 12.4.
But since iOS 12.4.1 is out, you need to download the IPSW for your device and hold Shift and press update on iTunes, to chose your ipsw file.

dont update on itunes, it will update it to 12.4.1. You have to download the 12.4 update but my phones about to die so hopefully someone else will help
edit: i meant before getting 12.4 from ipsw

yeah i just was saying don’t update directly without downloading it from ipsw, because the update on iTunes right now says it’s 12.4 until you get to the installation step and it says 12.4.1. They sneaky

Download the 12.4 IPSW file for your iPhone. (I'm guessing X)
Then open iTunes and plug your phone in, shift+click the update button and choose "select file".

I can just plug in my phone will all my current data on it and just straight upgrade to 12.4?
Ooo not so sure about the "all my current data" part.
Might require an iCloud sync or something first.
