saying goodnight on a bad night
there have been times in my life
where nothing has quite made sense
on a bad night such as now
where midnight quickly arrives
and there are tears in my eyes
for there are fears in my mind
the countless hours fighting
and the loss of a friend
and there have been moments recently
where i have wanted to give up
nothing quite gave me the same bliss
in the same way that you used to
for no one loves me
on a bad night such as now
there have been times
that i’ve wanted you back
to wish me a happy birthday
and to tell me i did well
and there have been words i have wanted to say
but you would never say them back
and so i kept quiet
for i would not want to scare you
and make you think you need to love me back
for i want you to say goodnight
on a bad night such as now
