Enough with the fucking USA hate

I get it out country has problems and we have idiots and I'll be the first the say the US def ain't perfect but Jesus Christ the constant berating we have to hear because of who the president is or because of the incidents that are happening. We should bring things to light and be critical of them but this non sense I see in comments about your country is such shit and you guys are all retarded can fuck right off.

I spent 4 years in Germany and you know what was big there fucking American culture. People with shirts that say New York City or the fact they had american made Hollywood movies playing in English at German theatres. Dudes wearing jordans.

You'll say it's a shit hole that nobody wants to live in yet thousands of people are desperately trying to get in here. Will even risk their lives to get here.

We don't have fucking child soldiers like the congo, we don't have to wear masks walking through our cities like Beijing or the fact that I have more money in my bank account than the country of Greece.

I'll be here when you guys find that Utopia

The media will always make it look 1000X worse just for ratings

throwthisuseraway2•

Um, no. Things really are that bad here. OP is totally wrong - we deserve every bit of it. We are literally shoveling our richness and legacy into a shithole as fast as we can in the US. It's excruciating to watch.

2†
ProdigyKindSpy•

As an American I respectfully disagree about the rate of shithole shoveling

No it's not.

Yeah, his last sentence is proof you're right.

The whole argument that people are dying to come to the U.S. is overstated. If one looks at net immigration U.S. is not in the top 10. Countries like Germany, Singapore, U.A.E, South Korea, etc have significantly higher net immigration rates than the U.S.. We (people here in the U.S.) are too arrogant about our position in the world.

13
nocanola•

It is very difficult to move to the US permanently. That is a big detail you are leaving out. People risk their lives to come here illegally knowing the result if they get caught.

5
8to24•

People risk their lives to more to a lot of different places. The U.S. is not unique in that sense. I know a family from Iran whonhad been I'm prison there for Political activism. The the U.N. got them out of Iran. They petitioned to go to either Germany or Switzerland but were placed in the U.S.. They are definitely grateful to be out of Iran but the U.S. wasn't their first or second choice.

4
nocanola•

I’m not saying we are the best place to live in the world, or that everyone is dying to live here, but those who make it seem like this is the worst place to be are 99 out of 100 times unsuccessful lazy liberals who want everything handed to them.

2
8to24•

Lazy Liberals are the ones who think something is wrong with the U.S.??? Wasn't the Conservative mantra in 2016 (and since) 'Make America Great Again'. Doesn't the "again" part imply it is no longer great? Seems to me conservatives are the ones who have a problem with the U.S.. My thoughts are only supported by there tolerance/adoration for the Rebel flag. Had the Confederacy been successful there wouldn't even be a USA today.

Net immigration seems like a very...biased stat.

Why not use gross applications?

Singapore 😍

1
8to24•

43% of the population of Singapore are immigrants. Compared to just 14% of the U.S. .

0
weeaboo_olympics•

Singapore has less than 6 million people, the united states has 330 million. The percentage of people that are immigrants is a useless stat.

0
8to24•

Not in my opinion. It speaks volumes about how open and diverse a society is. Germany has a larger immigrant population than the U.S. and Germany has been known as a fairly isolationist nation. Here in the U.S. we are considerably less generous, less diverse, and more isolated than we tell ourselves.

LurkingFrientOP•

I never made this argument your insinuating out of left field. I said thousands of people are trying to get in correct me where I'm wrong there. And if you don't think Cubans risked their lives to try to get to US on a raft through the ocean well then my friend you must be a dope.

0
8to24•

My point is people are risking their lives to get to a lot countries. The U.S. is not unique in that sense. People from Syria are risking their lives to get into Turkey. That alone isn't a reason to assume Turkey is a great country.

6
LurkingFrientOP•

Yes guy but there are also people who are coming to America because they are choosing to as well it's not either or it's both. Yes I bet more people are fleeing as refugees to turkey and Germany because they are closer of course. What I'm saying is we have that as well but we also have tons of people who are coming here by choice I don't know what you're argument is at all. Would you choose to go to a country that is horrid as the us is portrayed to be?

1
8to24•

'We might be bad but others are worse' is a childish argument. Saying the U.S. is better than Cuba isn't saying much. Also pointing out that people in Germany wear Jordans is stupid. People in the U.S. drive BMW's (German brand), so what. Your observations are superficial.

Our landscape is beautiful, we have some amazing animals, huge wonderful cities, and one of the best parks system in the world. It's almost like having a shitty figure head is bad media.

9
throwthisuseraway2•

Our landscape is quickly being overrun by corporate interests; the animals have lost their environmental protections; the city infrastructure is crumbling and President Doritohair is doing squat about it despite campaign promises. The park system is being run by a mining executive - good luck with that. It's almost like having a shitty figure head is incredibly bad for the country. The media can barely keep up with the raping of our resources.

One of the top rants currently is an American complaining that his life is unlivable and he is in constant pain.

Because he can't get his teeth removed. Something literally every Western country has managed to work out is healthcare.

5
[deleted]•

Yeah. I had a friend who isn't from the states and thinks the U.S. is an awful place to live because John Oliver told him so. While John Oliver has exposed some really messed up things that go on here-it really isn't that bad. People tend to hate the U.S. because it's what is hip as well as an easy scapegoat.

We have our problems-but at the same time people don't realize how lucky we are to live here. There aren't that many places I can think of where rights are fully guaranteed. Yes there are some. But there are more where people are not guaranteed certain rights.

While the president of the United States doesn't directly impact U.S. Citizens as some people think-he/she does impact our image on the global stage. And the current one, well has done quite a bit of damage. However any sane person shouldn't ever judge an entire nation because of it's leader.

I have never had any of the problems you are talking about with regards to healthcare. In fact it is heavily exaggerated. Most people who can't afford healthcare don't bother getting insurance because they either think they are invincible and don't need it-or they would rather buy the latest gadgets instead of paying for it. My insurance is really only $100 a month. It's really not that big of a deal. The problem is people are more interested in material things than their actual well being.

Again, most people are insured, even with existing conditions because of the ACA. It seems you are just getting your information from very biased sources. I don't mean to be rude-but I'd recommend before bad mouthing another country do your research first. And we do have free HC for those who don't work as well, so I really have no sympathy for people that complain about. In my state it's called ahcccs. Is our healthcare system perfect? No, it's not. Are there better options we can take to make it better? Yes, yes we can. But is it as bad as the media portrays it? No, it's really not.

1
weeaboo_olympics•

We have the constitutionally protected right to free speech and expression and arms. Those are two vital rights that the people should have regardless of any other factors.

It's also really easy to be high and mighty when you don't pull your share of the weight on your defense and tax the shit out of your citizens.

1
8to24•

There are nice places in the U.S. but also some really terrible places. Most of the country is rural. I have driven across the U.S. both the northern and southern routes. The West Coast is beautiful. The East Coast is busy and diverse. Everything between is terrible for hundreds of miles at a time. Other than because one happened to be born there I see no reason to ever visit the Dakotas, Wyoming, Oklahoma, etc, etc, etc.

3
andrew_human1444•

I think the hate comes less with the US as a country, but more the mentality. It's how proud and arrogant, that Americans are often perceived to be that really drives this, not the natural landscape or human rights in the US.

2
Acceleratio•

As a German I envy you so much for this massive amount of land you have. From snowy mountains to tropical beaches you can have it all and never have to leave your country for it Over here once it's winter it's winter in all of Germany, if I want to escape it I have to fly somewhere and speak English.

I agree!!! What is even worse than those outside the US expressing their disgust is the US citizens joining in and licking their asses. Seriously, anyone who is unhappy and unable to survive in a capitalistic system is free to leave. You want to be rich and not work for it, you want everything given to you, go live in a Socialist country, wait until the system breaks from all you lazy incompetent leeches, but don’t think we will miss you.

I'm just saying we dont deserve to be berated because of where we live that's like me calling out Syria and blaming all the people who live there for what's going on there it wouldn't be right.

To be fair, the U.S did bomb a certain country, ruining two perfectly good cities and killing over 300k people. And also ruining the land the cities were established on.

But yeah, let's look over the bombs and hail the USA, which was land owned by the natives until some Americans stole the land off them.

And then, let's turn a blind eye to every single year before 1864, when Africans were enslaved in the southern states.

Nah, nah, let's still look over that and make a cookie-cutter utopian view of the United States, when it actually isn't a perfect segment of the world, and it's just as good as the DRC.

0
LurkingFrientOP•

But are the American people to be blamed for the actions of our govt and the things that happened way before us?

2
Wolfy_Packy•

Yes, because the Americans in the past are still Americans.

1
Wolfy_Packy•

And just to clear something up, I don't have a huge ass problem with your argument that all the hate that the US receives is unsolicited; America does definitely deserve at least some hate, but I just meant to point out some reasons that the United States does have events that can and will be criticized in the present and future.

I do actually agree with some of the points you state, but not all. Sorry if I caused any inconvenience, for say.
