Form 3 wait times?

My BOGO can from last years summer promotion made it to my dealer in July but my dealer had been bought out by someone and took over their inventory. I called early August and found out they did have my can but was waiting on F3 approval. I called again early September to see if there was any update (there wasn’t)

Am I just stuck waiting? I can’t submit my F4 application until their F3 gets approved. I thought F3’s moved quicker.

I was told 6 weeks for a paper file form 3. I'm on week 2.

Also, for future reference, if the dealer you purchase your NFA item from says they don't e-file form 3's, walk away.

Thanks. That’s reassuring. I didn’t know if I should start worrying or not. I didn’t ask if if they efiled or if it’s a paper trail. I’ll just try to forget about it for a few more weeks.

I just had one take a week from my purchase. Prolly 2-3 days from form completion. This was Silencershop though.

This shop is a SS powered dealer which makes me think they must be a reputable dealer. I don’t necessarily think they’re doing anything dirty. I picked up a can from them in the spring. Maybe it’s all the inventory getting transferred...

The last can I bought made its way from RSR Group to the shop in less than a week.

If the can is at the FFL that it’s being transferred to you from, then why are they waiting for a form 3 to come back? SiCo would have filed the form 3 to have it sent to the FFL. Unless the guy who sold the business kept the FFL license and the purchaser of the business had to get their own?? 🤔 I feel like the FFL license should have been transferred along with the ownership of the company. But maybe that’s too logical for the government? 🤷🏼‍♂️

That must be the case...If the original owner kept his ffl and the new owner already had an ffl would they still need to F3 the can?

And if the original owner did keep his FFL then why couldn’t you just do the transfer with him? Too many unknowns and variables to be sure.

Also, could the new owner be confused as to which form is needed and when? Might not be totally unheard of if they just saw buying the gun store as a good business opportunity
