How do you mercy kill an animal without degrading the quality?
Every time I shoot it point blank to put it out of its misery the quality drops to poor.

It's a virtual animal... Just wait it out for the best quality.

You cant unfortunately, to keep the quality of the pelt you need to find the correct weapon to kill it with and kill it in one. Best way is getting a head shot.
