(Spoilers Extended) The old man in the inn

In chapter 41 of ASOS we get Jons POV as he enters an abandoned village with the wildlings. They find an old man next to a fire and end up killing him, but the old man literally never says a word. Im still reading the book, but it feels like I won’t be getting an answer to who he was. Help me figure out who this dead old guy is!
