LG V30 + Otterbox Defender + Wireless charging + screen clearance + screen protector

I bought a Spigen Tough Armor case based on recommendations from here however I'm very disappointed in this case. It only protects the top and bottom of the case by 1.4mm https://i.imgur.com/0Awz57d.jpg https://i.imgur.com/zxTL8q4.jpg, and leaves the sides and screen completely unprotected. I'm used to an Otterbox Defender for my old Galaxy, so I'm very unhappy with the level of protection on the Spigen case.

Onto the questions for people with an Otterbox Defender on their LG V30

  • How much does the case extend around the edge of the screen? It's really hard to tell based on pictures. Image on Otterbox website Ideally I want a flat front, as the curved edges are pointless to me, and I really don't care if they are covered

  • Does wireless charging work fine with your Otterbox Defender case? Additionally, which charger do you use? I have a cheap wireless charger I bought at Kmart (in Australia) which works fine with the Spigen case

  • If you use a screen protector with your Otterbox Defender case, which screen protector do you use?

I am getting very conflicting information from this sub, most people say they hate the tempered glass screen protectors/waste of time however after getting a scratch from a grain of sand right across the front of my screen after less than a week, I've got to put something on it, even if it's a plastic film protector

Really disappointed in this Spigen case, I used to have one on my Nexus 5 years ago, but living in Australia we have really limited options, so I want to know for sure that the Otterbox meets my needs before I drop AU$60 on importing it from Amazon US

Check out Supcase Unicorn Beetle. Has scrern protector and works with wireless charging. Ive dropped many times without damage. Im on my second one as first one screen cover was damagedfrom sharp object. Reviews state, screen protector plastic is soft and easily scratched. But I figure my screen would have been damaged instead.

I have a V30 with OtterBox Defender. Wireless charging isn't going to reliably work unless you remove the outer shell. It's been a great case saving me from numerous broken screens from drops.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I need a really sturdy case as I am very hard on my devices. When you say it doesn't work reliably do you mean it's tricky to place the phone on the right spot to charge? Or that it basically doesn't work at all?

It rarely worked. Had to abort and use a traditional cable.

I also have an Otterbox defender on my V30. I use a Belkin wireless charge pad and it does work but has to be placed in a very specific spot. Occasionally I'll find the phone stopped charging overnight because a notification vibration moved it out of place. As for the screen protector, I use the custom one installed by Geeksquad at Best Buy, no complaints. Case doesn't affect it.

Would you be able to measure the the distance between the edge of the case and the screen? I want to know how deep it is/how far protected the glass is. Could you please take some photos like mine to show exactly how much protection there is? I can't find any useful photos online at all. Thanks in advance
