Nearly lost all my data

Yesterday I got a notification from my NAS that one drive dropped out of the array. So I shut my server down and went home 3h later.

I open my door and I am greeted with around 2cm of water in my hallway. Remembering the notification I got on my phone, I went to the small room where my NAS is.

My upstairs neighbour forgot to turn of his bathtub and went to work. Flooded his bath and found a way threw the ceiling right onto my NAS. Hence my UPS powered my NAS even after the power was tripped because the water on the electronics. Now I got 120Tb of fried 8Tb HDDs.

Gladly I have the exact same NAS at my parents house and all is real time synced.

Remember to backup your important data!

Now I have to dry my house, replace my wooden floor. Get in touch with my neighbors insurance!
