No it's not that simple, you can't model something as complex as the climate of the entire freaking planet and make predictions on top of it with just a single phenomenon (CO2 infrared absoprtion), just the role of water vapor throw that idiotic corelation between CO2 and global temperatures to the junk (which have been conveniently truncated to only take into account the last 100k years to remove the more drastic geological/climate changes that naturally occured in the past and all the moment when CO2 and temperature did not corelate at all).
It's not freaking simple at all, same way it wasn't all about the proletariat and bourgeoisie, it's more complex than that and only ideologues would want both to fit under one simple idea.

They are not stupid. They know what their bread is buttered on. They know if they double down on the myth of manmade greenhouse effect deterioration, they will get more funding, support and renown.

You are correct on all points broadly speaking, but I still think you aren't giving them enough credit.
The difference is, if they are ideologically possessed, their culpability is much lower, or perhaps even none. If they are not ideologically possessed as I believe, then they are 100% culpable for their duplicitous and heinous behavior. I get that ultimately they are still doing it, but for me it makes a big difference whether they are doing it because they're stupid or if they're doing it because they're evil.
