Laptop cooling solutions?

My girlfriend has had an Alienware laptop (specs at the bottom) for a while and she picked up D2 on it thanks to cross save. It runs the game pretty well, great actually, at 1440p and medium settings. Problem is, obviously the thing runs hot as hell because it's a laptop and it's throttling her CPU resulting in frame drops. I bought a $25 cooling pad with fans to rest the unit on but it isn't really helping. Is there any good cooling solution for laptops?

Before buying the pad I had her cap her frame rate at 60 and turn all settings to Medium, 85 FoV and the frame drops stopped but it's still running pretty warm.

I did find out her CPU is auto-boosting during play, and used a 3rd party app to disable it and keep her CPU at base clock, which helped, but it reset after shutdown/restart. I'm gonna take a look at BIOS when I get home from work, but is there a way to disable this Intel turbo feature outside of BIOS?

Specs: Intel i7 7th gen, 4-core 2.9GHz base clock

Nvidia GTX 1080

You can usually disable boost in bios, or an old trick which should persist through reboots is to go to advanced power settings in your chosen power plan and set "CPU maximum state" to 99% instead of 100%

Otherwise, all I can think of is the usual, get some feet or a cooling pad, repaste, etc

Thanks, I'll look in BIOS this evening. My build has an AMD processor so the Intel turbo feature is uncharted territory for me lol
