If you watched Suns games last seasons, it got to a point where he would cross half court with the ball and instantly get doubled. It was amazing the way other teams could have 2 players on Book and we still didn't have anyone open??

Rubio isn't gonna exactly make you feel more open with his gravity... But he can pass!

We got more options now though. Saric at PF was almost as big of an improvement as Rubio at PG. If a line-up of Rubio-Book-Oubre/Bridges-Saric-Ayton is on the court you can't just immediately double Booker. Either Ayton will have a very favorable match-up in the post or either one of the forwards will be open for a shot/drive.

The first one wasn't through legs, but Lowry is great passing point guard. Ayton never had a point guard who can pass like Lowry or Rubio.

There is a player who is more like Nash than Rubio is but this player is more of a big chungus than a PG that's why people don't make the comparison.

How good of a passer is Rubio though? - haven't heard much about him and thought he was an above-average PG at best... Just wonder what Ayton would say if he was playing with Westbrook, Lebron, or CP3, someone like that.

Rubio was one of the most hyped passers ever coming into the draft, he’s still an amazing passer but his lack of scoring has kind of impacted what people think of it.

The jazz didnt run a system that gave Rubio the freedom to show off his passing ability.

Wolves Rubio was consistently one of the best passers in the league. His vision might be the best in the league.

I’m not getting defensive because I truly don’t care, but that’s not accurate at all. The Jazz offense is made for the primary and secondary ball handler to make plays. It’s a European style of offense that has tons of cuts, pops, and flashes, and picks. Tons of trust is given to the playmakers which in turn allows them to actually make plays.

im well aware of the offense the Jazz run. its accurate in the sense that the Jazz system is not designed for one player to accumulate massive assist totals. There's a reason his assist numbers dropped so much in Utah and its not cause he suddenly became a worse passer, but he just had less control of the offense there. When fans are judging players passing, the first thing they look at is assist numbers, so its not surprising to me at all that people who only have seen Rubio as a Jazz player don't know about how good of a passer he actually is.

Its like this, he was brought up to be a great point guard in the 2000s, and just was not able to adapt to the mass shooting machine guard archetype of today. If he could even shoot at 36% from the three he would be insane

Whatever you think of Booker, one thing people will never be able to take away from him is that he is just an amazing scorer. He has the potential to be an elite scorer even.

And a mediocre coach is a massive, and let me repeat that, MASSIVE upgrade above anything the suns had in years!
