Guitar > Polytune 3 mini > Quartermaster (1 BF-2, 2 POT, 3 Timmy, 4 Rattler+, 5 Carbon Copy Deluxe, 6 TR-2) > Tumnus > Ditto > Amp.

Polytune: It's small and not too expensive. Does what it says on the tin.

Quartermaster: The newest addition. Really made a difference to the sound. I play a strat and it's very noticeable on the in between positions. All the treble came back. Also I don't stack my overdrives so the flip flop function is a god send.

BF-2: My favourite effect. I went through about 6 flangers before this. The knobs all actually do something (unlike the Ibanez FL9). Does a great fake chorus too. I run it off a 9V out rather than 12V to no ill effect.

POT: I us it in OD mode as a low gain thing. Lo Mid switch engaged btw.

Timmy: The best overdrive I've ever used. The EQ is fantastic. I use it as a medium drive but this thing can can do it all.

Rattler+: Really versatile. On low gain mode it'll do bluesy stuff. High gain it'll do fuzz. The range tone control isn't great though.

Carbon Copy Deluxe. This is probably overkill, but I picked it up used for about what a normal one costs new, so I thought what the hell. I love it. The repeats sit back just perfectly. I had the tap switch lying around from when I had the TC Flashback 2.

TR-2 Analogman mod: Sounds great. Been through a few tremolos but this won out. If I'm honest it's not any better than the stock one. Having the volume control is a nice luxury though.

Tumnus: Don't like it as an overdrive but as a make louder thing it works great. Was using an EP booster for this job but it puts too much bass in for my taste.

Ditto: Kinda the standard I think.

Edit: forgot to say anything about the pedals.

Nice board. Is that the pedal train metro 24?

Yeah it is.

Ahhhh awesome. I’ve got the quartermaster 6 too and I’m wondering how it would fit on a metro board. You trust helped me a ton thanks OP

Hahaha. Nice board. I do this too. For instance if I don't buy a pedal for a month or so, I treat myself to a reward. (THIS PEDAL THING IS A REAL PROBLEM HAHA)

Thanks. The funny thing is I'm planning on replacing my favourite pedal. It's an illness.

Is the analog man tr-2 worth it? Lovely layout 🦈

Thanks. It depends on whether you wake up in the middle of the night worrying about the perceived volume drop in tremolo pedals. The stock TR-2 is excellent and the newer ones don't suffer from the volume drop as much. There probably isn't enough of a difference to justify the extra cost. But having the volume on the front panel should be standard for all trems.

I want a flanger so bad but I can’t decide what to get. Will you talk more about your flanger experiences?

Sure. I like it subtle and ideally before OD. The BF-2 is my favourite. It works well before or after dirt. It's got a ton of sounds in it and it's nearly impossible to make it sound bad. Does a great fake chorus. Next is the MXR micro. Great sounding but not super tweakable, you get what you get. I had a Mooer E-Lady and an EHX electric mistress. Both make you sound like Dave Gilmour which is cool. I'd go with the mooer as it's smaller and cheaper. The EHX is a little noisy as well. I had a Line 6 M5 too. I liked the reverbs and delays in it but the modulations not so much. Then there's the Ibanez FL9. Noisey as hell, but if you put it after a buffer it quietens down. I'd say it sounded the best of all the ones I've tried on a clean sound but just terrible before OD. After OD it was meh. I could only get one sound I liked out of it and turning the knobs didn't really do much. Oh I also had the TC super cheap one. Stear clear. If you're not that familiar with flangers it will only put you off for life.

Thank you!! Which Mistress did you have that was noisy? I’m looking at the Subdecay Starlight, but a BF-2 or Electric Mistress was my next choice. The BF-2 seems to REALLLLY have that noisey feedback going on in the demos I’ve seen though. It’s reassuring that you think it sounds good on all kinds of settings

I had the deluxe electric mistress. It was a bit noisy but that wasn't why I got rid of it. I was just looking for something a bit more flexible sound wise (and a smaller enclosure). It's still a great option and the noise wouldn't put me off it.
