So I was standing outside of work on my coffee break...free candy?

A white van pulled up to a small group of my coworkers outside of our building in North Austin, and a girl pops out with a brown box. She says, "Do y'all like candy?" and then proceeded to give us a box filled with about 200 fun sized packs of Swedish Fish. They're these little gummy fish, and they're not that great. Maybe I'm biased because I don't eat much candy. We let her take our picture so possibly we'll be on some of their advertising. Keepin' Austin weird!

They've been out and about handing out those fish for a few months. Not sure what the deal is. But Swedish fish have been around FOREVER - most of us love them out of nostalgia.

Do the different colors taste differently? All the ones I've tried so far have been red. I think there are only red in the box. Needs more investigating

I got some free Swedish Fish candy in the mail a few weeks ago. It's some kind of professional ad campaign.

Swedish Fish are great (and classic, they've been around forever), but they do get stuck in your teeth pretty badly. Hard to be critical of free though ^^.

Not knocking on the free. The bags are 15g candy made with 11g sugar. I'm not a health nut and I've taken down two baggies already. I didn't think Swedish Fish had any sort of local connection so it was completely random of them to drive into our office park

Not sure if the company has a connection to austin, but they are advertising around town. I saw a billboard on the upper deck of northbound 35 last weekend.

Was it the "perfect at the right amount of stale" signs? I have seen a few of those on and near the drag.

i may have seen that van. there's a Swedish Fish van (as in, a van with a great big Swedish Fish logo on the passenger side) that parks outside the office (6th and Congress) sometimes. May have been that van, in which case I'd say it's definitely marketing.

Your office is at 6th and Congress? Where the hell do you work?

i work in the Scarborough Building on the SW corner of 6th and Congress. (the building with the Gold's Gym and Ruth's Chris in it, across the street from Starbucks.) sorry, that's the best picture I could find. :-/

They gave my office a box of them a couple weeks ago.

This would be more awesome if I didn't think they were vaguely gross. :/

Yeah! What's up with the Swedish Fish campaign? They sponsored Weird Wednesday a couple weeks ago, and they keep on changing this one billboard that I see on my way to work. Kind of weird.... I love candy.

yeah, we got a tone of those at our office as well.

Same thing happened in our office. They just came up to our office and dropped off the box o' fish.

Ha! I didn't even see this before I posted this

We're on day two of the box, and there are probably 100 baggies left. Damn things get stuck to your teeth, but they're not bad
