Im not surprised that an increase in wages means a decrease in hours, but I hope this means they'll look into other issues as well

I think a 7% increase was too low of target, I don't think they factored in wages for new hires and hiring expenses, that or cutting our hours was part of the plan the whole time

Cutting hours has been part of the plan for years. When I was at target, my HRTM saved the previous years schedule grids with notes from the team about how busy it was and the schedule’s quality and also the weekly payroll dashboard; it was hilarious in a morbid way to see the notes about “need more cashiers” and “not enough SLs” and look at your grid and see you had 20% less hours but were expected to turn a 5% comp. fuck out of here with that shit, guys

Shockingly I GTFO

Anyone with a brain would see that more per hour would lead to cut hours and thus smaller overall paycheck for the most part.

When they passed the 15 minimum in NYC a lot of nonchain businesses have even completely shut down.

Honestly, if a business shuts down because it couldn’t afford a wage increase that it knew was coming (because NYC’s wage goes up every year), that’s on the business owners. Budget and plan better.

Raise prices to stay a float while operating and paying higher wages. No one shows up because it costs more now. Go out of business.

Prices and cost of living go up whether minimum wage changes or not. It’s the wage that hasn’t kept up with inflation.

Honestly, the Business Insider articles were more hard-hitting.

We'd been waiting on this CNN article for months since they interviewed employees on here, and, idk, I'm a bit underwhelmed.

i’m pretty sure they could investigate any large retailer and find problems. not letting target off the hook but seems odd to be singling them out.

Until target buys a boatload of ad time. Then the story will disappear.
