Estonia - I'm coming over and have a few questions (upvotes please for exposure)
Here's the deal. I'm looking at Tallinn University of Technology's International Relations degree. I don't plan on moving there until about next summer. There's a few things I need to know...
-I'll be coming over with ~13,000 euro in my pocket. My education stipend is ~990 euro a month. I've found a few decent 1 bedroom apartments for ~400 a month. I'd like to get something good within walking distance from the night life part of town. Any tips on that? is 400 to high/low? I'm thinking either decent sized studio or at least 1 bedroom apartment. Hardwood floors are a must.
-990 a month is in my pocket, the US is paying the tuition costs to school. Is 990 a month decent to live on?
-I'm an engineer/designer/CAD guy - what do you think the market is for a guy like me over there doing part time work? I used to be a nuclear engineer on submarines, designed breweries/wineries for a while, did engineering business development and sales. Where/who should I look to for that kind of part time work?
-Fuck all that, maybe I'd like to be a bartender - any ideas on where to go for that? Fun jobs for a guy whos been doing "serious" work for 10 years.
-I'm an American coming over and I want to ship my car. Do you know anything about what it would take to do that? I've got shipping price quotes from the states to there, but I bet there are some taxes and registration fees. I'm betting a dollar(euro) that having a student visa might make that difficult.
-What's it like from 01Dec to 14Dec? I may be swinging by to have a look around...
-Do you know any Americans living there? I've got a few questions for them.
-Are the women pretty? I'm kidding... but I'm serious.
-This is the most important question - where can I rent a sailboat for a day? That and mountain biking, any good spots for that?
Thanks!
EDIT : Great responses. Thanks all.
