Breadth Skill Projects
What would be projects that require a number of different skills to encourage you to learn some basics?
was watching something and realized a printing press probably requires a fair bit of different skills from wood working and could easily use some basic metal working, actually printing books would of course require you to grow/harvest materials for paper, a cover, glue or string to bind it with, and of course some form of ink.
And most of it could probably be done in small steps instead of all at once and still be usable on their own. Paper can be hand written and used to start fires, ink... well if it was colored could maybe dye clothes I guess maybe not too many more uses except to throw in someone's face lol, and the block letters could be used manually without the press itself built or you could let a child play with them :)
Not exactly high on the priority list for TEOTWAWKI but that's not really the point, though nice if it is something more immediately practical like building a house lol :)

I've recently started growing hydroponically indoors, building my own LED grow lights, ventilation, oh yeah and not killing the plants mostly. I do geochemistry for a living and I've still learned a lot of water chemistry stuff as it relates to horticulture. Soldering my lights and making them safe in a wet environment, ductwork and vent fans. Its definitely stretched my skill horizon a lot.
