Creating fb ads without the product

Hey guys. Long time reader and looking to get my first store off the ground. Just thinking a bit ahead here on how I plan on driving traffic to the website and obviously fb will be an option at some point.

Just curious on how people go about the actual creation of there video ads. Do you use some sort of tool, do you have the product shipped to you and create your own ads?

Thanks!
