Hacky home gym cable set up for side pressure... How's the angle? Body positioning? Waste of time?

You should watch this video devon larratt made on it, helped me out alot:
Take it with a grain of salt though.
You'll get a lot of different opinions on side pressure. As a newbie it's just super important to make sure you are using correct form. It's an easy exercise to hurt yourself in.
I think you would get better simulation using bands at a perpendicular angle, standing up. You'll have to get a table for that or use your bench on a high incline.
That's interesting. I don't really see people using bands for this kind of thing on video. I actually tried with a band set up before I got the pulley cable thing going and I found I hit the typical cable problem of the band being way too easy until it was suddenly way too hard. Felt pretty awkward, but it might've been a set up issue.
Hi, total dumb beginner here. I've always been into grip/forearm training and I've started working in more arm wrestling stuff. It's a lot of fun working pronation and supination and stuff like that, but I'm playing with side pressure now.
I don't have a table, or even a proper wrist roller (that's my next goal). Obvious problem here is this doesn't work any wrist rotation (like pronation), but there is some cupping at least with the globe grip thing.
I tried to emulate youtube videos but I see a lot of different set ups. Any tips for modifying this set up to be more useful? Is this useful or is it too sketchy with positions and grip and execution?
There are a few ways to work pronation depending on the equipment you have. The easiest and most effective is using a tricep rope attached to either a pulley setup or a loading pin. I like to wrap the rope around my palm, just under my knuckles. It may be uncomfortable for some but I have bigger hands and the larger grip size provides more challenge.
You can also use a standard pulley handle as long as its attached to a strap. The weight is focused on the end of the handle were it meets the strap so you'll feel the most pressure between your index and thumb. There are barbell handles made just for pronation that will really work your wrist. I'll take some pictures of what I have and post them another time. You can also use a sledgehammer (or a hand sledge) baseball bat to work pronation.
If you bought an armwrestling table that would solve almost all your problems. But except for that try to get a higher platform to put your arm on. When you practice side pressure you want to move your whole body while keeping arm locked. Watch some videos of Janis training side pressure for demonstration. I would also turn the bench somewhat towards the pulley so you can simulate back pressure with your side instead of just sideways.
