Here's my list. You're severely lacking in powerful pod paths; the strength of the deck comes from increasingly dominant board presence with every Vannifar activation.

Thorn Mammoth is MVP of the deck without a doubt.

Yeah, that's more like it I would throw in an end-raze forerunners though, sometimes you just need to win, ans you already have 7drops to bridge the gap

I don't think I've run into a game where I needed them, so I left them out for how often they'd be a dead draw. But they may be worth while.

I love the counters to Oko, especially the maindeck Veil. But why Corridor Monitor and no Tome?

PraetorFaethor•

Corridor monitor lets you use Vannifar twice in one turn, which is very good. Also lets you turn a 1 drop into a 3 drop, if the need arises.

Very similar to my list, likely due to vannifar having somewhat limited options in simic only. I recommend feasting troll king, probably over riddlemaster sphinx. Not amazing to pod into, but podding out of it usually ends the game. Kinda surprised there's no biogenic ooze in the deck, too. I've been liking Hypnotic sprite, lovestruck beast, and kraul harpooner, and didn't like zegana and vivien. District guide seems pretty medium, too. Time twist is cool, have you been liking it? Did you cut maraleaf pixie because there were too many dorks? Has the anti-synergy with the hydras come up at all?

I don't like having early drops that aren't solely for curving/protecting Vannifar. I want to play her on turn 3, then on turn 4 play whatever I have and pod it into something better. Vivien is nice to flash Vannifar eot, just another way to keep her safe.

I may reconsider Maraleaf over a 4-drop; District Guide is good for mana consistency. Hydras are honestly too good not to play.

The 6-drops are mediocre, but their bounce protect themselves/Vannifar to be podded into 7-drops next turn. Ooze is worse than the other 5-drops and I don't want a fourth one.

Ooze has consistently outoerfirmed Roalesk for me, and Viv has struggled to stay alive in a format where aggressive decks like torbran burn are looking to pressure early Oko plays.

I can see your argument for early drops, but sprite does protect Vannifar, and Harpooner isn't an early drop.

Zegana is honestly pretty bad here, and in general, I never regretted swapping her for Shifting Ceratops.

Maraleaf has to be better than district guide. I haven't had any issues with fixing.

Yours looks somewhat similar to what I’m running at a current 9-1.

I’d really recommend running end raze forerunners. That card just consistently wins games out of nowhere and has probably contributed to at least half my wins.

Why not run Neoform in a deck that's already set up around pod paths?

1
TheOnin•

Why spend a card to do something your commander already does every turn?

1
Escaridole•

Every turn except the ones she's summoning sick, in the command zone, or disabled, you mean? And only ever once in a turn? And never without other creatures on board?

Neoform provides flexibility. I'd replace District Guide. But your list, your choice.

You should try adding in a [[crashing drawbridge]], it's amazing with Vannifar.

And why no Kiora?

Since vannifar likes to sacrifice your own stuff, I would reconmend stuff that gets your other stuff back. Tamiyo collector of tales for example

Otherwise seems like a nice deck

Looks super fun! I wish you luck with it.

The thorn elephant guy that we get from the event at 5 wins would be a decent way to top out the curve.

The main idea is to ramp into Vannifar early and turn a one drop into [[Wildborn Preserver]] then her next activation can get a non-creature and put 4-6 counters on the preserver for early pressure.

The list definitely isn't optimal because I didn't have a lot of extra wild cards for [[Wicked Wolf]] or other obvious inclusions.

I like it! I think you want a Thornwood Falls. Other cards I would consider would be Fblthp, Risen Reef, Cloudkin Seer, Cavalier of Thorns, Cavalier of Gales, Agent of Treachery.

I've been trying to break Vannifar for 3 days as a brawl commander. I have yet to stumble into something busted, and she's performed more as a value engine. Who knew fair pod isn't THAT bad...

1
DarwinGoneWild•

Yeah. I hit mythic last standard with a vannifar deck and I'm sad she lost all of her best payoffs with rotation. She could be good in Historic standard though.

HeliodEDH•

I have a Kiora list with a pod sub theme https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/26-10-19-kiora-ramp/

The biggest all-star is definitely [[Agent of Treachery]]. I run a couple 6 drops just to pod into it, stealing a commander is one of the most brutal plays you can make in brawl.
