Screen freezes and becomes covered in blue dots

I got a gaming laptop (ASUS TUF FX505 GTX1060) and it occasionally runs into this issue where the screen will revert to a pattern of blue dots and freeze, preventing me from using it. Usually I just force it off, restart, and it’s fine but I wanted to know if there were anything I could do to fully prevent it from happening. It’s happened 3 times in the last two days of me having it. I’d greatly appreciate any advice, thanks
