Casual Boots

I'm looking for something like the boots in this link (HT: The Sartorialist). These boots strike me as casual but rugged, and somewhat understated. I know this might be heretical on MFA, but boots like the Red Wing Gentlemen Traveler seem too clean cut for casual wear, almost like a work boot. The closest thing I've found is probably some boots from All Saints, but they're a little out of my price range.

And before anyone mentioned Desert Boots, I'm good.

if you are looking for a casual boot that is not a Desert Boot, Hiking Boot, or Work Boot, what you are looking for is a Chukka.

Definitely not looking for a Chukka, thanks though.

Is it just me, or do a lot of chukka boots just look like desert boots? Is there any way to distinguish them?

Desert boots have a crepe sole. Chukka refers to the minimal eyelets right around the ankle.

That's my main problem.

I thought a desert boot was just a chukka with a crepe sole?

Don't get All-Saints, or Bed Stu, or Aldo, or similar boots. They're all trash fashion brands that fall apart after one season. Buy boots from a company that makes boots.

I think the L.L. Bean boots are the closest to what I'm looking for, thanks.

Fwiw those do look like Chukka boots. I think they are alden chukkas in sand suede Hes just worn them alot. All those neat creases you see on those all saints boots? those come naturally from being worn all the time. Gentlemen travelers break in pretty quickly and end up looking pretty worn in under a year. They wont be "clean cut" for very long.

If it's not already obvious, I'm not a fan of the Chukka style, although I do like the lack of eyelets for laces. The L.L. Bean boots seem like a good compromise, but if they made them without the eyelets I feel like they'd be exactly what I was looking for. Like these! Too bad they're $620. :(

those are chukkas... Chukka just refers to ankle length boots, typically with minimal structure and lacing only at the very top.

How about some Doc Martin Riggers. Built for the harshness of oil rigs. Uber comfortable and will last for years and years.

IMO the boots from All Saints look the best. Never go cheap leather or jeans I say!
