I thought 15W wouldn’t be enough. I was wrong.

Can it keep up with a drummer?
I play a 15 watt amp with 2 1x12 cabs and can keep up with drummers no problem. Heavy hitter drummers at that too. I rarely have the thing on full.
However, if you want pristine cleans, it's probably not going to sound as glassy as a higher wattage amp. There is break-up. If you're scooping your mids, you'll disappear in the mix without a little more power too.
It depends how much headroom you need, and how you're eqing your amp.
I've played my joyo zombie 20w through a 4x12 and it fell just shy of keeping up with the drummer. Mind you, he hit extra hard, like ridiculously hard. And the zombie is a hybrid with a micro tube in the pre amp only.
Did you use an all tube 15w?

Noice. Those egnaters looks keen.
Mids are key. Never been a fan of the scooped sound
The million dollar question.
Probably all but the loudest of drummers. I used a Dark Terror as my main amp for years and it was definitely loud enough for gain, but for cleans? Only with quieter drummers.
I think the OR is a little louder, a little better.
If it doesn't (and it will), you can easily fix it with a sennheiser 609/906 (not gonna go down the rabbit hole of which is better). And I would strongly argue that for small venue musicians (local bar bands) going with 15w or smaller and carrying your own good amp mic, is the pro move.
I've been wanting to make the switch to something more practical and up my game, but life has its expensive surprises lol.
Was looking at the shure sm57, or more likely just getting an amp with a good direct output to run to the board.
One local cover guy I know (and one of the best all around players I've seen) had been using a mxr micro amp at the end of his chain and into the board for years
All good options. Although I think at about $100 the 609e would be my “budget” option of choice, but then I’d probably just wait, and save the other $80 and get the 906. You never outgrow them. You keep em with you no matter what amp you have, and you don’t have to restrict yourself to amps with line out.
is that an ephiphone casino guitar?
Yes. Good eye.
Why does this picture keep posting sideways?
my 18w Dr Z is PLENTY loud enough... honestly i dont think ive had it past 5.
Orange is a great choice. I have a TT and would love an OR15.
Volume on 10 through a 4x12, nice
That’s with the gain at 1 for a clean sound. If I cranked the gain it would be deafening.
The OR15 is one of my favorite amp. Killer tone. I have like many others swap V1 for a 12AY7. Slightly less gain but easier to dial in.
Thanks. I’ll look into that. Less gain would not be a problem for me.
