When the boards on the train station say "First Class at the rear of the train, and they mean First Class is at the front.

Leading to a scamper up the platform avoiding the queues to get on the other carriages.

*Note: I am not a rich posho, it's a short hop and it costs exactly £1 for the upgrade... For this you get a seat and a brew. Bargain.

I mean, compared to some people yes. Compared to the usual denizens of First Class? Their disapproving stares say no.

Totally worth it if going any sort of distance and you can get in one of the single seats. Means you can just sit undisturbed for the entire trip. And complimentary biscuits.
