Yesterday's Adventure
First day back at work, me and a fellow coworker start cleaning up the unload dock to start the unload process. The truck was around 500 pieces so it's kind of a good day. We can finish early and start the overnight stocking afterwards sooner. Now one of the ASMs starts looking for trouble.
So we're cleaning up, minding our own business then she tells us to not move another thing. Initially, I'm thinking she somehow just had a change of heart and was going to make someone responsible for the mess clean it up. I'm stupid for thinking that.
Apparently 15 minutes after 6 PM is way too long to be cleaning up the dock and laying out pallets. She unlocks the trailer, looks in the truck, and only sees 6 pallets of salt. Not the extra stuff we have to sort sitting on pallets. Not the rest of the 400 pieces of freight behind the cardboard. Just 6 pallets of salt.
She orders us to stop doing what we're doing and start unloading the truck. "We have to make room to start laying out pallets," we protested. "There's only 6 pallets of salt!" she cried. "It shouldn't take you two this long to get started on the truck!" "But what about the stuff on top of those pallets?!" we retorted.
Finally we gave in and just started taking the pallets of salt out of the truck. Couldn't go to the floor with the freight on the pallets so it just cluttered up the dock by a lot. We couldn't move anything anywhere.
Today we have a bigger truck. I have a feeling this isn't the end of this.
