Nome - The Droog (experimental tribal house) familiar but different
VIDEO LINK: Nome - The DROOOOOOOOOOOOOG
A friend of mine on Facebook (and also IRL) posted something to the note of... 'house music sucks' ... usually I agree with this but for some reason on this special occasion I defended house music.
The story is as follows:
FRIEND: most house sucks!!! send me some good stuff and counteract this, because its so true. [Shit Beat HD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDbis5ZmNz0]
ME: well yea, ok, if you are gonna make fun of house by playing the only distinguishing characteristics in their most stereotypical minimalism, but there is plenty of great music made using some of the theory behind house music;
(wiki excerpt)
"Ho...use is uptempo music for dancing, ...by modern dance music standards it is mid-tempo, generally ranging between 118 and 135 bpm. Tempos were slower in house's early years. The common element of house is a prominent kick drum on every beat (also known as a four-on-the-floor beat), usually generated by a drum machine or sampler. The kick drum sound is augmented by various kick fills and extended dropouts. The drum track is filled out with hi-hat cymbal patterns that nearly always include an open hi-hat on eighth note off-beats between each kick, and a snare drum or clap sound on beats two and four of every bar. This pattern is derived from so-called "four-on-the-floor" dance drumbeats of the 1960s and especially the 1970s disco drummers. Producers commonly layer sampled drum sounds to achieve a more complex sound, and they tailor the mix for large club sound systems, de-emphasizing lower mid-range frequencies (where the fundamental frequencies of the human voice and other instruments lie) in favor of bass and hi-hats."
From what I understand there is so much of this over produced minimalistic house beat without enough progressive elements, the same problem happens in with most 4x4 drum patterns without any real song writing skills.
Sad that this track by Switch called "Get ya Dub On" kicked off the fidget house scene back in 2003 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Q7cU4KQhT4... it took them 24-28 years to advance house music to have a wobble and a shuffle? OMG!!! so advanced... thankfully glitch, 8-bit, electro and industrial were slowly melding with club floors around the world ... and finally some good house music was born....
(remember to always be patient in judging a song in the first 30 seconds to 1:30 as many danceable electronic music puts a bit of repetitive, more minimal stuff at the beginning and end of songs so that there is room to mix songs in a set, pretty much an intro and an outro)
most of this stuff falls into the psytrance influenced psychedelic house scene

A Psychedelic Electro House Mix 2 Groove 2
By me :)
this is some of my favorite mid tempo tracks mixed into a set

I tend to get sick of four on the floor beats after about 3-4 tracks, unless they really vary in genres and sonic spaces. Have fun!
FRIEND: o chill nome i just always hanker after the funk or percussion that sounds more organic, but i know what you mean. its okay i don't hate house i hate repetitive bullshit from unimaginative peoples whether it be shitty hippy jazz crap or boring techno or top forty pop country excrement.

ME: Right on sister!!!
this all inspired me to write a house track so after that I turned on the ableton engine and began to plunck away on some of the built in synths this is what I came up with
it is one of 'my' favorite tracks... it needs mastering... but still, awesome sorry for not being humble :)
tl;dr friend made vague comment with a distaste for house music, I responded with a house track, I liked it, I made a video, I yammer on in pseudo-intellectual audiophile tech talk
