Autokits X G37 Coupe Rear Diffuser V2

Making post to see what the G community has to say about this manufacturer or if anyone here has a diffuser from AutoKits and can share their experience. Specifically looking at the carbon fibre as opposed to the fibreglass, but any info is appreciated! I’m up in Canada so with shipping, the CF diffuser costs quite a bit but for a high-quality piece, it’s the best I can find (unless any other Canadians want to share where they buy parts from). Currently driving a 2011 G37xS Coupe in Malbec Black, so I think it’d compliment the car perfectly. Thanks in advance!

I should be getting my CF diffuser for my sedan this week, so not exactly what you are asking about, but close.

I’ve read that they are high quality and worth the premium over cheaper ebay options. The main drawback I’ve read is that getting it to stay flush after installation can be tricky due to adhesive failing a little bit over time. I would guess that can be overcome by very careful, proper application, but I might be buying additional 3M tape to make sure I don’t run into any issues.

I spoke with AK about their carbon fiber parts and they said that they take them somewhere to get them double clear coated after they finish making them which is a huge plus. I was worried I was going t o have to clear coat it, or get a vinyl applied to avoid yellowing over time.

Shipping has taken a lot of time, but I’m not too worried about it if it’s a good product (ordered it in September.

Yeah I watched a couple installation videos on YouTube and everyone decides to use additional 3M tape to mitigate the risk of slipping.

Also concerned about shipping as on the website it says 22-24 business days but that seems very optimistic for a product that’s made to order.

Thanks for the info, would love to see some pics of the diffuser once installed!

I’d definitely clean the surface very well and use a 3m adhesive promoter as they use 3m tape. I wouldn’t add extra tape. It’ll make it bunch up and leave gaps where the double layered tape transitions to the single layer and make the other layer fail. The tape on mine failed because I wash my car with a pressure washer two or three times a week. I used some very small sheet metal screws with nuts on the others side and painted the heads black after taking off the old tape and cleaning everything and putting new tape.

I have one for my sedan. It’s really nice.

Just know going in that you won’t likely get your diffuser as fast as the projected time window, but you’ll get it and it’ll be really good quality. Mine took somewhere around three months with a projected window of four to eight weeks. A lot of people throw shade on them because they are impatient. Autokits also isn’t the best with communication, but he’ll get back to you eventually. I’d personally say go for it.

Their stuff is made to order so it takes a little longer and they ship out in bunches of multiple orders so somebody else’s order may hang up the whole bunch in order to reduce cost for shipping for them. Right now is a good time to order because it’s not a bunch of people ordering during spring for summer.

The shipping time is a concern, but not too major as I know I’ll get a high-quality product. The only serious setback is customs because of the fact that it’s a premium price so based on that, I’m anticipating a couple hundred in fees. It doesn’t help that their only authorized resellers are also in the US, but oh well lol.

Appreciate the feedback! Do you have any pics of the installed diffuser?

Yeah I am.

Beautiful-looking setup! Loving the wheels and the diffuser looks pretty flush when looking at it from the rear.

Man... it sounds like a hassle to deal with customs. For example if something goes wrong and you need to return orders and so on.

Thank you! I think it’s a great diffuser. It’s not over the top in terms of style and works well with the rest of the car without sticking out. That’s my main gripe with a lot of these other diffusers is they draw too much attention to one area of the car by being overly stylized.
