AITA for cutting my friend off for not apologizing after a package was stolen?

Not the A-hole

About a year ago i finished. my first gaming pc, and during the process, i bought some extra parts, upgraded over the year, and had enough parts left over to almost have a full extra gaming PC. A few months my neighbor was throwing away his own PC and he asked if i wanted the last part (graphics card) to finish my spare PC.

I am new to PC gaming, and have no friends that game on it, so when my longtime friend started expressing interest, i thought "well, i have a spare now...sounds like he would appreciate this and i'll have a close friend to play with online" so i told him i would finish the build and he could have it.

After 10-20 hours of building and setting up all software to boot straight into the gaming OS (he isnt great with computers so i went above and beyond to make this as straight forward as possible), i was ready to ship to him.

So, on thursday after work, i drive to FedEx to ship the PC...They ask how much its worth, weight it, etc, and the total is 140...i call my friend to confirm thats Ok and he goes "absolutely not. Go to UPS, they will be cheaper". I get off work very late, so at this point UPS is closed. The next day after work, i drive to UPS and do the same process...price comes out to 130-135ish. I call him and he says "no. Just do USPS they will always be cheaper". I go "I think this is going to be the average, and they will make sure you are there to sign for it. He refused to pay, so i waited until monday and went to USPS.

Long story short (too late?) i go to USPS monday, price comes out to be 90 dollars. He finally agrees and i ship it. The expected delivery day passes, he has me call usps daily, and then finally i get a text from him yesterday saying "you need to call usps RIGHT NOW' and sends me a pic of the package ripped to shreds at his doorstep with nothing in it. I get another text "I guarantee it was one of the usps employees'. My immediate thought is "if you are that quick to blame them..WHY DID YOU HAVE ME USE THEM". I am very short iwth him, and im just waiting for some kind of "Im sorry you had to go through all of this" but instead all i have been getting are texts like "you need to call USPS". "You need to make a profit off htis"

I decided to cut him off as a friend until i get a sorry. This PC was worth 1700-2000 and i put in a lot of time/effort to give him this. AITA for completely cutting off a friend for what was initially a free offer i gave him? We are no in our 30s and have known eachother since highschool

Edit: i want to clarify, i feel like the asshole because i was the one who offered him a free gaming pc. I just feel like a 'sorry you did all that work for nothing" or a "thanks for what you tried to do" kind of thing would have helped made me feel better after realizing i threw away 2000 dollars for/on nothing.
