Would anyone be interested in a Halifax meet-up?
I know there are quite a few Haligonians on reddit and I wondered if any of you would be interested in getting together sometime. Maybe in early November? Have drinks at a downtown pub or something? I've never gone to a meet-up before and I certainly haven't set one up, so I'm open to suggestions. I just thought it would be a great opportunity to make some friends IRL - we all at least have reddit in common!
EDIT: How does Maxwell's Plum on a to-be-determined Friday night sound to everyone? Maybe around 9:30 pm? EDIT 2: So it sounds like Maxwell's is a well-liked suggestion, but may be difficult to pull off on a Friday night. Are there other suggestions or do we stick with Maxwell's? (Really, every place seems pretty busy on a Friday night!) As I mentioned in a comment, I'm going to try to rearrange my schedule so that we can meet earlier than 9:30 (not because it's all about me, but because I don't want to organize a meet-up that I can't even attend). Unless 9:30 pm sound good to everyone.
Also, this is getting way ahead of myself but I had an idea this morning that I think could work out really well if there is any interest. I know there are a lot of students here who may not be going home for Christmas, and there are probably other Haligonian redditors who might not have family or friends in the area and/or basically don't have plans for the holidays. I was thinking we could do a pot luck, not necessarily on Christmas day, but some time around then. My building has a large room in the lobby that is available to book for parties/events, so we could probably have it there (no wild drunkenness!) unless anyone else has a suggestion, and everyone could just bring a dish to share. (I'd keep track of what everyone is bringing.) Anyway, it's still two months away, but I just wanted some feedback to see if anyone would be interested. For now I suppose I should focus on this upcoming meet-up!
