Losing followers and lower engagement on Instagram business account

Hello, I just wanted to check if anybody else had a similar situation. I run a skincare business account on Instagram and it has grown steadily for the last year. However, due to work and moving to a new apartment, I haven't been as active for the last two months. Before I would post maybe 4 times a week and now it's more like 1 post a week. I've noticed that the number of followers is not growing as it was and even the users who would like my posts (not bots, actual people I've connected with through the account) are seeing my new posts only after I boost them. Is the algorithm "punishing" me for posting less or am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

I've noticed it too and I think it's the algorithm. Have you tried doing stories on Instagram? Those seem to help. People unfollow and follow very quickly there on Instagram today.

I'm doing Stories, but also not a as frequent as I should. Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely post them more often.

Yes, you can do several per day.

Facebook doesn’t want you to make money on the platform. Go to the Instagram subreddit and you’ll see almost everyone is complaining about it.

It’s not really the algorithm, it’s about posting.

Routinely posting is the #1 thing you should focus on when trying to grow your social media presence.

When you stopped posting as frequently you stop showing up in people’s feeds as frequently, and so they’re looking and following other people instead of you.

Obviously there’s a point of diminishing returns though, and you can’t just post every hour of every day lol. But posting only once a week is not really going to be sufficient when you’re trying to build your following. It needs to be more like 3-4 times a week like you were doing!

You're right, I definitely need to post more often. Or like I used to, 3 times a week. Thanks!

This! It's not the algorithm. It's your frequency of posting.

Yep. It’s happening to everyone

Yes. Posting regularly is a MUST or you fall down in the insta algorythm on the feed.

Just be patient. You went silent for too long so basically its like starting all over again. Keep posting a couple of times a week, test out your posts to see what is working/whats not working. Post good content and it will start to pick up again.
