Customer Recorded Me What Can I Do?
I realized a customer recorded me today while I stood at the self check out staffed register. I was just standing there and watching everyone as they scanned themselves out and noticed one lady was holding her phone weirdly. Arm straight out and aimed at me.
I try not to be one of those people that are all “oh this must be about me” like others do when it comes to strange behavior or language barriers.
So I thought “oh she’s taking a weird selfie or FaceTiming someone. None of my business” and moved on.
I noticed she was just throwing her items onto the self check table thing where the bags are instead of putting them in bags. I also noticed the bags were low so I assumed she didn’t want to run out by bagging her items.
“Oh I’m sorry miss i didn’t notice the bags were low.”
“Oh no this is just what I do when I have to do it myself”
‘Oh’ I think to myself ‘entitled lady mad she has to use self check ok’
“Oh” I say instead “I’m sorry” and walk back to the staffed register.
I notice again her phone is pointed at me. This is when I start thinking she is in fact recording me, but again I don’t want to be that asshole that goes up and says “stop recording me” when the person isn’t.
Then she starts actually bagging her pile of items and when her cart is full, her phone is aimed at me again.
Then she turns around and pushes her cart and that’s when I see her phone was on camera mode with an outfacing camera.
Luckily my shift ended about 15 minutes later and had a panic attack in the break room.
I was just wondering if there is anything I can do? I requested a reprint of her receipt so I got what time she was at the machine but other than that I don’t know what to do.
