Anor Londo. Archers. WTF

Help

I’ve been cruising through DS1 as a sorcerer and absolutely loving it. I really haven’t had any major hangups, including in the godforsaken Blight Town, until I ran into these damn archers in Anor Londo! What the HELL? As a sorcerer with basically no physical defense, I don’t have a clue how I’m supposed to get past these guys.

I’ve tried running up and all the way to the left of the ledge, but I get nailed every time. I tried butting up against the archer on the right and knocking him off but I have basically no poise and haven’t needed any up to this point. So he slams me.

Any pointers? Has anyone run into this spot as a sorcerer and figured out the best strategy? At this point, I’m thinking all I can do is soul farm on the 10 or so enemies I have access to and bumping my int high enough so that I can MAYBE one-shot the archers if I’m lucky.

I use poison arrows on those clowns.

This. 2 or 3 poison arrows each. Then just sit back and wait.

The ring of low-weight ninja flips helped me

The archer on the left is relatively easy to cheese. Once you get to him he draws his sword and if you line up so that the corner is between you and him he'll often just run off the ledge to get to you

Right. Right. I meant the right.

Yup. Speed is key to get past them

Run all the way from the bonfire to the pillar in the middle of the ledge, don't waste your time trying to kill the enemies. Preferably naked. Wait until the archer on the right calms down, then walk up to the ledge (no need to run). ROLL your way to the archer on the right avoiding his arrows.

Once you are close to the archer on the right he MAY get out his sword (sometime he just keeps firing arrows from straight in front of you, roll and hope). Once he has the sword out he will do his attack - parry him, it is very easy, press L2 as soon as his sword start coming down.

Now you may not do much damage with the parry but this bloke has the habit of jumping back after a parry or two - to his doom. Or the position may be lucky enough that the parry just throws him down the ledge.

Once the archer is falling WAIT until you lose the lock with him. Otherwise you will walk in his direction - down the ledge. Then jump down on the balcony.

The thing with the poison arrows works well - is just that you have to backtrack for 10 minutes to buy them....

THANK you for this detailed response. I will try this.

As another suggestion, you could potentially two-hand a 100 physical defense shield (maybe a heater or crest shield) so that if you miss a dodge, the shield blocks it a bit. Two-handing a shield will nullify the strength requirement for most smaller shields, even with a sorcerer build that hasn’t leveled up Strength.

This is a very tough spot. Don’t be afraid to ask on r/summonsign if you want to summon someone to clear them out with you.

Silver (and Black) knights are SUPER easy to parry. Ignore the archer on the left, run past the arrows and get to the archer on the right. A couple parries and ripostes and he's down.

I had the do this shit on sl1 and the only advice I got is wait for them to shoot and roll through the arrow, then get out your shield and party the sword and if they keep the bow just keep rolling through until they pull out the sword

Get hella poise. Profit.

Just parry the right archer and get him out of the way.

I always go up to the right, aggro him so he pulls out his sword (mindful of left’s arrows), then run back down the way you came. Often the knight will fall off as he tries to follow you.

I was super lucky and never got hit my first time. I didnt even know that was a well known challenging area until way later.

For sorcerers, the chase is the easiest method. Get to the middle pillar, hide and wait for them to stop shooting. Run around the right side of the pillar, then up the ramp in the middle. At the top take a right. Right archer should be lining up a shot for your face; roll under it.

Run in to right archer, left archer shot should either miss or hit a blocking pillar. Right archer should switch to sword and shield. When you see him switch, turn around and run back down to the pillar (left archer is still lining up a shot, so be wary of his shots). Right archer will try to chase you, but walk off the ledge.

Once you get those souls, turn back and carefully run past where right archer stood and hop down to the balcony.

Alternatively, homing soul mass + bellowing ring + dusk crown can take care of one, but the pillar will knock out 2 homing soul masses. Back it up with a great soul arrow and you should kill right archer no problem. Just need to avoid getting shot.
