IAE sick of "self pic" shots that show the "photographer" holding the camera in a mirror/arm extending out of the shot?

I just hate seeing this. I absolutely judge/think of less of people who do this. Yes, I know this sounds very hateful and judgmental, but jesus it just looks tacky as hell. There is a reason cameras have the timer option on them. The next step is finding a surface to put the camera on that is the right height for the shot, yes I know this can be a pain, but it is so worth it in the end. I guess the problem is that people are lazy, as well as the culture of our younger generation( I guess I'll blame that?) has allowed for a lowering of standards all across the board. As a 20 y/o I facepalm just about every day at the shit people my age see as okay... sigh. I'll just finish here because now I'm feeling a full on rant coming..

tl;dr: Use the timer and a tripod to take self portraits for humanity's sake!!!!!!!

"Sick Of" is an understatement since people have been doing this since early MySpace days. Even holding your phone at arms length takes a better photo. (edit: just realized that you covered the "arm extending out of shot"... but yeah, even that's better than the mirror shot)

Yes, I will definitely agree with you the arm shot looks less tacky... but still. "Sick of" really is an understatement.

What if they are using the camera on their phone?

This is a good point. But I guess if you're using the camera on your phone, it already isn't about quality of the image or anything of that nature... it still irks me though.
