Venom
Serpents spawn inside my skull,
Each one to burst from caverns dull:
I hope they blind me,
As they leave through my sunken eyes.
For I want to end the pain you bring me:
The pain you know you bring me.
For though we are no longer bound
By what fair, cursed thing we found,
Do not our mutual cares remain?
I've spared for you my laid-bare wrists
So flimsy and so flail;
I didn't bind my carotids,
Nor dance around the rail.
For I promised you
And hated the tears
Cutting canals through your
The sunny fields
Of your round little darling face.
And yet
You flaunt your labelled venom-vials
And proudly down sweet poison
So everyone can see,
Even I,
Curled up in the dark,
Seeking only a small death.
Go on,
Go on!
Tell me you still care about me!
And kiss my cheek,
You beautiful Judas!
For every vodka drop you drink
Brings this your servant to the brink;
But fear you not:
These tears so far from you are shed
And only verse my heart has bled:
I won't rebuke you.
I’ll take my turquoise pill tomorrow
And keep my silence and my sorrow.
