Why you should always vote NDP.

I came upon a startling realization last night, and that was while I was reflecting on the continual shift towards corporatism and authoritarianism in the States that I realized that Canada has been doing the exact same thing.

From what I've seen in the world, it is generally the case that all the major parties drift towards governmental authoritarianism and/or economic corporatism for the following reasons: If you vote for a more right leaning party[which has been the case for Canada and USA since before anyone reading this was born], you allow and empower them to go further right. Because this typically involves changing the laws and setting up the precedent, the following leading party will almost always be invariably more right leaning than they were previously. In addition, in a bid to stay relevant to the discussion, more left leaning parties shift their policies towards conservatism.

Show one example where this isn't true.

As a result, I've come to the conclusion that the only way to stop this conversion is to vote for the most left leaning political parties, no matter what you think of their policies. Canada is blessed with the possibility that a third party could win a majority. Even if the NDP loses, if they are the tie breaker in any possible situation, be it that conservatives are in power without a majority, vice versa, they can force them to compromise, slowing the progression of that party towards conservatism. Eventually, by winning, we force the other parties to become more liberal.

As of now, the 2 major parties are just too damn conservative for me to vote for them anytime soon. If you are a liberal or socialist and you like a policy that the Liberals will enact, you should still vote NDP. An NDP party that can be the tie breaker will be sufficient to get any left leaning policies passed.

A strong NDP party in 1966 gave us Universal Health Care.

What are your thoughts?
