This is when it is most important to retain sanity.

Ok, it was easy to hang on to reason when the party most of us liked had the majority. We knew Nanci Pelosi didn't eat babies or whatever it is the republicans hate about her so much. But now they have the majority and now sane, reasonable discourse is going to be harder for us, and more important.

Sanity is like free speech. It's easy when you're on top, and it's hard when you have to listen to somebody else. This is when it's REALLY IMPORTANT to formulate reasoned argument to back up your points. I'll be very disappointed if liberal dissent descends back to the kind of giant puppet hate freak-show we had during the Bush presidency, our points are stronger than that kind of childishness. We have to make our points, keep an eye the opponents, and remember they're republicans, not demons, just like I'm a liberal, not a demon. We don't like when the terms for what we are become slander, and we shouldn't do that to others.
