AR is hitting 8 inches low.

So I bought a new AR, a Daniel Defense Mid-length. It's my first AR but not my first rifle. I bring it to the local range and setup the target at 25 yards (it's an indoor range). I figure I'll have to adjust it somewhat. But it's shooting 8 inches low and elevation doesn't go that far. I had to adjust windage a bit and it's dead on in that department. I'm was shooting 62 grain Silver Bear. With my .22 I can shoot 1 inch off hand (or usually better) at 25 yards. Now this is my first rifle with a ghost ring sight, for my sight picture I'm holding the front post dead center within the ring and holding at 6'oclock on the target.

edit: I'm going out tomorrow to a longer range (50 yards) and testing different ammo types and some of the suggestions mentioned below. Thank you everyone for all your help!

update: Ok I'm just a noob with ARs! I went to the range today and first found out it wasn't me. No matter how I shot the gun it always shot low. So, I thought the front sight was as down as far as it could go but it wasn't. After some trial and error and lots of shooting I got it now dead on at 25 yards. So that's probably good out to 300. This is my first AR and all my other rifles that I've owned were already factory sighted. This thing is ridiculously accurate. Getting my rounds to touch at 25 yards was easy and I was just placing it on my range bag. Off hand semi-rapid fire I was hitting dead center at 50 yards of a man sized target I set up with ease.
