Can we all agree that unless a liberal party enters the political landscape, the USA is doomed to lose their middle class?

An excellent article about the death of Liberalism in the USA by Chris Hedges, "an American journalist, author, and war correspondent, specializing in American and Middle Eastern politics and societies."

PS: He does not criticize Chomsky, many people are misreading that particular sentence.

He makes an excellent argument that both parties work for Wall Street, a street that is fundamentally opposed to Liberalism because it would mean cutting back their profits.

As for my title, I feel that a third party is paramount for the survival of the middle class. It is unfortunate that the early Tea Party got hijacked by the Republicans (who will betray all their liberal promises), because it was the closest I've seen a third party get formed, even if it wasn't anywhere close to achieving that goal.

Many Democrats, Liberals, etc... people along that side of the spectrum, felt that the Tea Partiers represented too much social conservatism. Is social politics really an issue in this country? Social reform only ever gets done in the Supreme Court or on the State level anyways.

We should not have condemned the early Tea Partiers, it made them prance right into the hands of the Republican party. I believe we need a Liberal party at the Federal level, even if it means rolling back on some social issues in case, for whatever reason, the hypothetical party gets dominated by social conservatives.

I'd also like to add that parties invariably shift towards more conservative positions over time if socialist or liberal values aren't rewarded with a more left leaning party getting into power, a tie breaker position, or if the damn corrupted parties would just be rewarded when they expressed some liberal values. Had the PO passed, I would have hoped that the Americans would have blown the Republicans out of the water last night, but I feel that the MSM is too damn influential. This line of thinking is why I always vote NDP in Canada, I don't even need to know their policies, there needs to be a socialist/liberal check with at least some political power, always.
