IAmA 36 y/o who completely lost his hearing 12 years ago from a genetic disorder. AMA

When I was 22, found out I had a genetic disorder, Neurofibrobatosis type II, 2 years later, I was completely deaf.

edit 1. The genetic disorder causes a benign tumor on each auditory nerve, if caught early, hearing could be saved. If not caught early, it usually results in the auditory nerve being cut with removal of the tumor.
