good blogs for high school journalism class

Hey Reddit, I'm teaching a high school journalism class in a small town with no school newspaper (the only articles we write sometimes get put in the small local paper but there's only so much to write about).

I thought about letting the kids create their own blogs about topics that interest them... school sports, the NFL, cooking, fashion, movies... whatever.

So my question is, what are some good (and school appropriate) blogs for them to look at to sort of model their own after? I picked Gizmodo, Slashfilm, Where Have You Gone Andy Van Slyke (I'm from Pittsburgh originally, sorry [why am I apologizing?]). Anything they must see that you can suggest?
