Is any one else a believer in Ayn Rand and somewhat offended that the conservative movement has twisted her ideas to suit their own ends?
I discovered her work at a young age, and it influenced me heavily. It drives many of my ethical decisions. The Fountainhead inspired me to follow a post graduate degree in Architecture. I've read all of her works, (not just the fiction) and can say that though there are holes in her body of work it provides a solid foundation upon which to build a life.
It disturbs me greatly that many in the conservative movement have take parts of works and co-opted them as justification for their view of how the world should be. They seem to have taken the ideas that suit them, and ignored the ideas that don't.
I am a liberal, a Democrat, an elitist, an Atheist and an Objectivist.
