I made this!

NSFW

It's called Stinger. Isn't it pretty?

Recipe:

You will need:

  • some string-cored plastic clothes line

  • a bicycle handle, of the sort that has a small air hole in the end

  • some plastic string (because it's stronger)

  • scissors and craft knife

How to make it:

  1. Cut two lengths of plastic string. A short one about a foot long, and a longer one about three feet long.

  2. Double the short length over making a short loop. Push the short loop in through the air hole in the handle's end, so the loop pokes out of the open end of the handle.

  3. Wind the clothes line into a coil that will be your preferred tail length when stretched flat. You need enough coil that, doubled up, it will cram into the handle and neither leave wiggle room nor split it apart.

  4. Pass the long length of string through the circle of the coil. Take the two ends, and pass them through the loop of the short length, and use the short length to pull those two ends through the air hole. Discard the short length. So now you have a long loop of string going into the air hole, around your coil, and back into the air hole.

  5. Pull the coil up to the end of the handle, fold it tightly together as a bundle, wind the ends of the string around something for a grip and use it to force the coil inside the handle.

  6. Did it fit, and everything worked out? Then pull out the long length of string, and cut each coil of clothes line at its farthest stretched point, leaving two tails.

  7. Finishing step: take each tail one at at time out of the bundle and cut the end square with a craft knife. You can also cut all the ends to an equal length if you prefer (I choose not to).

Now I just a volunteer to test it on :-)
