I personally believe there is a general negativity associated with the word "marijuana".

To all smokers, and supporters of smokers, here's something I think might help sway non-supporters one by one. When discussing with others, do your best to convince people to start calling it cannabis. Personally, I hate the nickname "marijuana", its origin, and the negative connotation that goes along with it.

To clarify for the unaware, it is widely speculated (though I admit, not proven) that in the late 1800's/early 1900s, cannabis was stuck with the name marijuana by government propagandists in an attempt to make the plant sound Mexican, thus foreign and more threatening when they spewed their garbage "facts" to the public.

Besides, cannabis sounds so much cooler (sorry spanish language).

I only posted this because of the subreddit name (No I'm not calling for its deletion. The above is in reference to personal conversation/debate)

BTW, Nice try CA, you'll get 'em next time. Regardless of the election turnout, I was amazed at the tough fight you brought to the ballot box.
