I need some geek inspired groom's cake ideas?!

Since my fiance is much like many of you (and actually is one of you - Hi Baby!!), I was hoping to get some ideas to come up with an awesome groom's cake. The cake can be a sheet cake, tiered, or cupcakes - nothing too sculptured, I do have to pay for it.

Him: Is a child of the 70's-80's. Atari, Nintendo, Tron, 80's hair metal. Plays guitar and has been in bands. Loves Horror and Sci-Fi. Favorite authors are William Gibson, Clive Barker, HP Lovecraft. Loves Dr. Who and Firefly, animated sitcoms. Favorite band is old Van Halen. He drinks beer (near beer snob) and we love to eat. He isn't a big sports fan, but we did meet playing hockey which he loves. We have a two year old daughter.

Any suggestions for kick ass cake? Nothing NSFW please. Thank you tons Reddit!!
