How Important is a Good Name?

I tend to find myself pulling my hair out over names for new characters. I want it to fit their personalities and the tone of the story, so it always takes forever for me to settle on one.

What do you do? Just throw darts at a wall covered in names? Use friends names? Whatever suits yer fancy at the moment?

Does it even matter? Are all names created equal?
