The Citizen Reform Party (CRP) - a post election musing.
Agenda:
The CRP will restructure the federal government to finally block corporate interest while capturing the power of governance and redistributing that power directly to the citizens of the United States.
Why:
The current form of United States Federal Government has a fundamental flaw built in. Such that an interested party can, without much money, directly influence a congressman. This elected official however represents a vast population and so really a lobbyist has bought the vote for thousands of citizens. We are experiencing the fallout of this flaw right now. Our political landscape has become dominated with republicans and democrats only interested in the power of office. The people who want office are not the people who should have it. They will stop at nothing to get there, scraping at each other’s throats for the coveted seats. This has lead to a political stale mate. Neither party has the citizen’s interest at mind, fighting each other over their 15 minutes of fame on CNN and Fox. This can be stopped though; we can take this country back.
How:
To change this system, we must be willing to make radical change. We must give direct power of governance to the people. No more shall we wait and hope that our elected officials make the choices we want them to. We will make them ourselves. By taking the power of congress and delivering it into the hands of Citizen Voting Committees (CVC) we can directly control the course of our country. A CVC would be comprised of 10% of a county population, chosen at random, who will vote as they see fit on federal policy. The CVC duty would be treated much like jury duty, an individual will receive a summons, whereupon they would participate for the next 6 months, meeting once every month, to debate and vote. Individuals in the CVC would be financially compensated at a reasonable living wage for each active month. This leaves the senate intact to write policy and provide a final legal oversight for policy before passing it on to the President for final approval.
Review:
The Citizen Reform Party will distribute the power of congress to Citizen Voting Committees while maintaining the Senate for policy creation and legal oversight.
